The fire incident that took place at Sonsoddo nearly one-and-a-half month ago has set the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) back in terms of time and money.

Two bio-digesters will be set up in Margao to tackle the solid waste problem in the commercial town of south Goa, even as chief minister Pramod Sawant called for a permanent solution to the sonsodo imbroglio.

Fomento Green, the agency that operates the solid waste treatment plant at Sonsoddo for the Margao Municipal Council, does not have the required permissions to operate the facility, chief minister Pramod Sawant said in the assembly on Wednesday.
