NEW DELHI: Bombay Stock Exchange has partnered with Twitter to provide live updates of S&P BSE Sensex levels, stock prices and opening and closing figures of Sensex companies to millions of investors, in Asia’s first such collaboration between a stock exchange and a social media platform.
Both Twitter and BSE stated the partnership is a move towards democratising financial information by enabling millions of Indian investors to easily access stock market and stock-related information through a digital platform.

While BSE has been running a Twitter handle since 2012, there was no real time feed available on social media to investors, a BSE spokesman said.
Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD at BSE India, said he hopes investors and businessmen will find accurate and real-time information disseminated through Twitter useful with this partnership. “We believe this association will also aid in fulfilling the mission of digital India,” he said.
Viral Jani, who looks after media partnerships for Twitter India, said, “We are thrilled to pioneer this initiative to make crucial information accessible at your fingertips in this fast-paced world.”

Twitter has activated four new features to allow people to follow the markets through hourly tweets, autoresponder tweets for Sensex 30 stock prices, auto direct messages for opening and closing figures of Sensex 30, and a live display photo that will change every two minutes to project the Sensex figure. During trading hours (9 am to 3.30 pm), BSE, through its Twitter handle @BSE India will send hourly tweets of the Sensex figures, level, and company stock prices. To subscribe to a company's opening and closing details through direct messages users can tweet #subscribe #companyname or #unsubscribe #companyname to unsubscribe.
