Two trafficked girls rescued from N Delhi

NEW DELHI: Two teenage girls from West Bengal, who were kidnapped and sold to a businessman in north Delhi’s Civil Lines, were rescued on Monday.
Rishi Kanth from NGO Shakti Vahini, which helped in the rescue operation, said they were informed about the girls by a source in West Bengal after which a team reached the Civil Lines police station and sought its assistance. A joint team raided the house and rescued the girls.
“When we reached the house and counselled the girls, they narrated the ordeal to the team.They were brought to Delhi from Alipurduar and a village in Jharkhand by a youth on the pretext of getting them a job,” said Kanth.
The family members of the victims and the West Bengal police were informed following which a case has been registered at the police station there.
Sources said that the girls were forced to stay as their identity proofs and cards were confiscated by the youth. Police said the owner of the house is also being questioned about him. Cops suspect the role of a placement agency in the trafficking of the girls.
