KOZHIKODE: P Sankaran, former minister and Congress leader who died on Tuesday night, will be laid to rest on the premises of his ancestral house at Perambra on Thursday.
Sankaran was admitted to the M V R Cancer Centre here a few months ago.
The body was taken to his house at Kadiyangad on Wednesday evening. Earlier, the body was placed at the house at Karikkamkulam, DCC office, Kozhikode Town Hall, Koyilandi Town Hall and the Congress office at Perambra for the public to offer tributes.

People from various walks of life offered tributes to the Congress leader who was active in Kozhikode's political circles for decades.
A member of the A K Antony cabinet in 2001, Sankaran was the minister of health and tourism. He became member of Parliament in 1998 by defeating M P Veerendrakumar.
He was also the general secretary of KPCC, president of the DCC, chairman of the district UDF, district president of the Youth Congress and member of the Calicut University Syndicate. Entering politics during the student days, Sankaran was a staunch follower of Congress stalwart K Karunakaran. It was the 'Leader' who persuaded him from joining police as sub-inspector and to continue in politics. Karunakaran was instrumental in getting him elected from the Koyilandi assembly constituency.
