Students protest again, urge VC for online exam mode

Nagpur: As the Nagpur University (NU) administration failed to reach any decision on the mode of summer examinations, members of the students wing of Nationalist Congress Party staged protests for a second time in front of NU’s new administrative complex on Monday.

Led by president Rudra Dhakade, the protesters later met vice-chancellor Subhash Chaudhari and apprised him of how students were in a confused state of mind on account of contrasting news regarding the exams.

Reiterating their demand for online papers, they said there was no point in insisting on the offline mode, as Covid-19 cases have again started surging in Delhi and other areas.

“The examinees would still be at threat until the deadly virus is completely eradicated. Outstation students would also face problems in travelling all the way to the city for the exams, which would be held in the peak summer.”

Citing TOI reports of education minister Uday Samant entrusting universities to decide on online/offline exams format, the activists requested Chaudhari to conduct the exams in online format this year.

“Offline papers would lead to academic disaster and examinees would be ultimate sufferers,” said the protesters.
