Mumbai: On Thursday, Mumbai saw a lot more recoveries than new positive cases. It reported 666 new cases of coronavirus, with which, the city's caseload surged to 7,19,179.
On the contrary, 741 persons were cured and discharged in the city. The total number of recoveries have now mounted to 6,86,866.
As many as 20 patients succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 15,247, as per the latest data provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The Maximum City is now left with 14,807 active cases of
COVID-19.
The BMC informed that 29,309 tests were conducted during the day to check people for the infection. So far, 67,23,219 tests have been carried out by the civic body, ever since the pandemic broke out last year.
Mumbai now boasts of a recovery rate of 95 per cent and the overall growth rate of cases between June 10 and June 16 is just 0.09 per cent.
The doubling rate of the city is now 734 days.
At present, there are 18 active containment zones (slums and chawls) while 81 sealed buildings in the city, the BMC noted.
