Kalyanotsavam sees beeline of devotees

VIJAYAWADA: Chaitra Maasa Kalyana Brahmotsavam of Sri Ganga Sametha Durga Malleswara Swamy saw hundreds of devotees thronging up. People were there to witness Kalyanotsavam held on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

Temple executive officer Koteswaramma with her family and donors participated in the Kalyanotsavam of the deity. Vishnubotla Siva Prasada Sharma, Sthaana Acharya of the temple performed Kalyanotsavam with temple priests.

“Kalyanotsavam is an important part of the Brahmotsavams and there was a huge response from devotees this year. Worshiping goddess Kanaka Durga and Malleswara Swamy during this Kalyanotsavam is believed to give strength and prosperity,” said Siva Prasada Sharma.

Vedic scholars performed special prayers on Thursday morning. Temple authorities conducted Simha Vahana Seva as a part of Nagarothsavam on the fourth day of the fest. Thousands of devotees participated in the procession and traditional drummers from Kerala stole the show with their performances. A few women voulentarily participated in the procession and performed ‘Kolatam’ and other art forms.
Temple Trust Board Chairman Y Gouranga Babu thanked the devotees and temple authorities for sucessing the fest. Poornahuti and other rituals will be performed on Friday, Babu said.
