Mother of two rides her way to Limca Book of world records for her Mana Pass feat
AGRA: While other women of her age would be happy tending to their daily routines of life, taking care of kids and attending to other household works, 35 year old Pallavi Fauzdar from Agra has been busy creating world records, riding on her bike to some of the world's highest motorable roads.
With two kids at home and a husband to take care of, Pallavi has also found time to pursue her passion of motorcycling and has created some envious records.
Her feat of driving through the Mana Pass, the highest and the most difficult of motorable passes in the world located at China border, ahead of Badrinath in Uttrakhand, last year in September has earned her an entry to the Limca Book World Records.
"I received the acknowledgement and the certificate from Limca earlier this week", said an elated Pallavi while talking to TOI. She said reaching the top of the Mana pass not only required nerves of steel but also some "divine intervention".
Describing her journey as "arduous", as it involved high inclined boulder tracks with numerous water crossings and snow, besides chilling winds and low oxygen levels, Pallavi said biking has always been given her an adrenaline rush. "Since I was a child, I was passionate about motorcycling and I'm lucky that I got married to Parikshit, who has been always supportive of my endeavours", she said while adding that the hardest part of her long and tiring road trips was being away from her family.
Pallavi, who is married to an Army officer, says that her entire family has always been supportive of her motorcycling passion. She said, "they do have apprehensions whenever I set off for my expeditions alone but they do have the confidence in my abilities, both physical and mental". She says besides other things her constant companions on such trips are her pepper spray bottles for her safety and a GPS device that ensures that she's never lost.

Besides her Mana Pass achievement, Pallavi is also the first Motorcyclist in the world to conquer 8 Mountain Passes above the altitude of 5000 meters in a single trip covering 3500 kms of tough mountain terrain of Himanchal ,Leh, Ladakh and Kashmir valley. This feat of hers was also recognised by Limca Book of world record.
She also the first female rider to reach the highest lake in world, Deo Tal, which is 17950 feet above the sea level, on her motorcycle.
Pallavi, who otherwise calls herself as a housewife, is a qualified Fashion Designer, a social worker and, a Rekki healer.
