Bihar native held from Bengal for cheating Bokaro resident

Bokaro: A native of Banka in Bihar was arrested from West Bardhaman in West Bengal and brought him here on Monday on charges of duping people by posing as a bodyguard of a high-ranking paramilitary officer, police said.

DSP (City) Alok Ranjan said, “The accused, identified as Rajesh Ranjan Jha (47), used to dupe individuals by impersonating as a security staff of paramilitary officer and offering to sell furniture and appliances for Rs 20,000.”

Recently, a resident of the Bari Cooperative area lodged an FIR against Rajesh with the Sector 12 Police Station. “Rajesh arrived in a car to meet the victim. Rajesh told him that he was transferred and leaving the city. Hence, he was selling off his household items at a cheaper price. The victim gave him Rs 20,000 but the accused absconded without giving him the promised goods,” the DSP said.

A total of eight khaki pants, three khaki t-shirts, eight khaki stockings, three monkey caps bearing CISF insignia, a red leather belt, Rs 1,800 in cash, a purse, and a mobile phone were seized from the accused.
